First Communion is one of the holiest and most important occasions in a Roman Catholic's life. Children receive the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist (the body and blood of Jesus Christ.) As Catholics, we know the Holy Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith: it is the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus comes to us in a unique way in the Eucharist. This is a very beautiful, personal, and intimate way of receiving Him.
Therefore, the first time a family member makes their Holy Communion; it is an exciting event for the whole family. The child, who is preparing for this Sacrament, will be profoundly united with Jesus, in a they never have before. It is indeed a holy and joyful occasion. Our souls become the bride of Christ. Therefore, girls wear white dresses and boys wear suits. Together we all celebrate along with the parents and all relatives in attendance. The very act of celebrating together reveals our belief in the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Communion is special because of who we receive. Every time we receive should be just as special, because we know Jesus remains with us in the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
So, let us celebrate together the Sacrament of “Love” and strengthen our relationship with Jesus Christ.
This program is designed to help the children grow in their faith and assist for a better understanding of the Mass, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the Eucharist, and what the church teaches about them.
Active parent participation is essential to the success of this sacramental preparation program.
